Here we go with another great classic pick that you may not know about!
The Rossington Collins Band was a Southern rock band formed in 1979 in Jacksonville, Florida, by surviving members of Lynyrd Skynyrd—guitarists Gary Rossington and Allen Collins, keyboardist Billy Powell, and bassist Leon Wilkeson—following the tragic 1977 plane crash that killed several Skynyrd members. To distinguish themselves from Lynyrd Skynyrd, they recruited Dale Krantz, a former .38 Special backup singer, as their lead vocalist, and added guitarist Barry Lee Harwood and drummer Derek Hess, the latter replacing Artimus Pyle after his motorcycle accident. The band aimed to carve out a unique sound, blending Southern rock with a soulful edge, and released two albums: Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere (1980), which went gold with the hit single "Don't Misunderstand Me," and This Is the Way (1981).
The Rossington Collins Band is remembered for its powerful guitar-driven sound and brief but impactful contribution to Southern rock.
