Dirty Honey is an American hard rock band formed in Los Angeles in 2017. Known for their bluesy, riff-heavy sound that recalls classic bands like Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, and Guns N’ Roses, Dirty Honey has become one of the leading acts in the modern “classic rock revival” movement. The band’s lineup consists of vocalist Marc LaBelle, guitarist John Notto, bassist Justin Smolian, and drummer Jaydon Bean.

The roots of the band began when guitarist John Notto met singer Marc LaBelle in Los Angeles while both were pursuing music careers. After playing together in local groups and gigs around Hollywood, they decided to start a new band focused on authentic, old-school rock and roll. Bassist Justin Smolian soon joined, followed by drummer Corey Coverstone, who was later replaced by Jaydon Bean in 2023. The group originally performed under the name “The Shags” before adopting the name Dirty Honey — inspired by a comment Robert Plant once made about his side project, The Honeydrippers.

Dirty Honey quickly gained attention in 2019 with the release of their self-titled debut EP. Their breakout single “When I’m Gone” became a major rock radio hit and made history by becoming the first song by an unsigned band to reach No. 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart. That achievement immediately put the band on the national radar and led to touring opportunities with major acts including Slash, The Who, Guns N’ Roses, Alter Bridge, The Black Crowes, and KISS.

In 2021, the band released their first full-length album, Dirty Honey, which further established their reputation for energetic rock anthems, blues-influenced guitar work, and powerful live performances. Songs like “California Dreamin’,” “Rolling 7s,” and “Heartbreaker” helped build a loyal fan base among both younger listeners and longtime rock fans. Their second album, Can’t Find the Brakes, arrived in 2023 and showcased a heavier, more polished sound while maintaining the swagger and groove that define the band.

Fans and critics alike often praise Dirty Honey for bringing back the spirit of classic arena rock without sounding like a tribute act. Online rock communities frequently describe the band as one of the few newer groups successfully carrying forward the sound of 1970s and 1980s hard rock. Listen to Rolling 7’s Here

Reckless Kelly

Reckless Kelly is an American country rock and Americana band formed in Stanley, Idaho, in the mid-1990s by brothers Willy Braun and Cody Braun. Raised in a deeply musical family, the Braun brothers spent much of their childhood performing with their father’s western swing group, Muzzie Braun and the Boys, learning the road life long before forming their own band. Their upbringing in the mountains of central Idaho would later become a defining influence on their songwriting and independent spirit.

After briefly living in Oregon, Reckless Kelly relocated to Austin in 1996, where they quickly became part of the city’s thriving roots-rock and Red Dirt music scene. The band built a loyal following through energetic live performances on Austin’s famed Sixth Street and at legendary venues like Stubb’s and the Continental Club. Their sound blended rock, outlaw country, Americana, folk, and Texas country into a style that appealed to both rock fans and traditional country audiences.

The group released its debut album, Millican, in 1998 and gained wider attention with albums such as Under the Table and Above the Sun (2003), Wicked Twisted Road (2005), Bulletproof (2008), and Long Night Moon (2013). Their music is known for strong storytelling, emotional ballads, driving guitars, and themes centered around western life, freedom, heartbreak, and life on the road. Reckless Kelly became one of the cornerstone acts of the Red Dirt and Americana movements and developed a reputation as one of the best live bands in Texas country music.

Over the years, the band has earned major honors, including a Grammy Award for Best Americana Album for Long Night Moon, and recognition from the Texas music community for their influence and longevity. They also helped organize the long-running Braun Brothers Reunion festival in Idaho, an annual event celebrating Americana and roots music.

Reckless Kelly’s lineup has changed over the years, but the heart of the band has remained the Braun brothers alongside longtime drummer Jay Nazz. Their independent, hardworking approach and refusal to chase mainstream Nashville trends earned them a fiercely loyal fan base across the country. In recent years, the band announced plans to scale back extensive touring after nearly three decades on the road, while continuing to record music and perform select shows. See You Next Week! - Andy
